| Cancun riviera maya barcelo | The reef starts at the northern tip of the Yucatan Peninsula near Isla Contoy, and extends south along the coast for nearly miles, down to the Bay Islands of Honduras. Within a few minutes of snorkeling at Devil's Crown, you will spot a myriad of sea life - including sea turtles and eagle rays gently "flying" above lavender and green-colored coral reefs. We did a ton of snorkeling here, and enjoyed every bit of it. Part of Biscayne National Park close to the Miami shore, Elliot Key offers snorkelers a rare chance to explore not only reefs and schools of fish, but also a series of sunken shipwrecks that make up the Florida Maritime Heritage Trail. The reef is closer to the shore here, and the conditions for snorkeling are generally excellent. The Yal-Ku lagoon here represents a fascinating blend of freshwater and saltwater, creating a distinct ecosystem that hosts colorful fish, mollusks, and other captivating underwater creatures. |
